Popular grocery chain Wegmans is coming to the D.C. area.

It’s happening! Wegmans, the wildly popular grocery chain with a cult following, is coming to the D.C. area. Tenleytown will be the lucky neighborhood with the grocer, as it is set to be in part of the Fannie Mae building.

The deal was announced late Sunday night ahead of the International Council of Shopping Centers’ annual meeting here in D.C.

Wegman’s will anchor a mixed-use development at 3900 Wisconsin Ave., near the new developments in the Glover Park area near the National Cathedral and Sidwell Friends School. Petworth is popping up with new buildings and developments every week it seems! As recent as April 2017, two properties were on the market after being converted into condo buildings. The buildings, now known as the Montage, were formerly a single-family home and an office building, respectively. Chevy Chase is booming with new projects and developments coming in the next few years. One of the busiest developments is due to start construction in early 2018. The Chevy Chase Lake Shopping Center on Connecticut Ave will be torn down and rebuilt to include two apartment buildings and a condo building.
