DC Council introduced a bill that will exempt owner-occupied, single family homes from TOPA laws with certain parameters.

The 1980 Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act (TOPA) was created out of the Rental Housing Conversation and Sale Act. It is designed to restrict owner rights and provide benefits to tenants.  The benefits for tenants include the option to purchase as well as the ability to assign their right to purchase to a third party.

The median sales price for homes in the 16th St. Heights neighborhood increased by 10.6 percent from summer 2015 to summer 2016. The average listing price in the community has increased as of August 2016.

16th St. Heights has been a mecca for young families, as The Washington Post has reported. Popular grocery chain Wegmans is coming to the D.C. area.

It’s happening! Wegmans, the wildly popular grocery chain with a cult following, is coming to the D.C. area. Tenleytown will be the lucky neighborhood with the grocer, as it is set to be in part of the Fannie Mae building.

The deal was announced late Sunday night ahead of the International Council of Shopping Centers’ annual meeting here in D.C.

Wegman’s will anchor a mixed-use development at 3900 Wisconsin Ave., near the new developments in the Glover Park area near the National Cathedral and Sidwell Friends School.
