Columbia Heights is full of things to do from restaurants, community events and more. Fans of soccer will enjoy the Airedale, which serves German favorites like schnitzel and pretzels with beer cheese. There’s also famed Bad Saint, a Filipino restaurant that accepts walk-ins only, is a must-try. Recommended dishes include the Ginisang ampalaya, or bitter melon, the adobong dilaw (cauliflower and squash stew) and arroz caldo (rice porridge with chicken).
For your sweet tooth, Le Caprice DC Café and Bakery serves up delicious pastries and croissants, as well as mouthwatering macarons. They also provide many delicious grab-and-go items like yogurt parfaits and crunchy granola.

There are plans for the installation of a “meditation park” at the grassy triangle at 13th St., Quincy St and Kansas Ave NW. The plans for the design can be found here. With the promise of benches, shrubs and bike racks, it could be the perfect place to enjoy some downtime in the area.
The fall is a great time to visit Meridian Hill Park, also in Columbia Heights. The park, designed in the style of an Italian garden, is perfect for cozy afternoons with a hot chocolate, gazing at the fall foliage. On weekends through December is a twice weekly farmer’s market located on the civic plaza at the intersection of 14th St. NW and Park Rd. NW.
