Columbia Heights Features & Amenities
14th St NW is the commercial hub of the neighborhood, and since it has been nearly maxed out from new development, 11th St NW has sprung up as another Columbia Heights hotspot. However, many of the neighborhood’s best restaurants and bars have been there for years. If you’re looking to check out the local music scene, try Wonderland Ballroom, and on the entertainment side of things, the GALA Theatre and Dance Institute of Washington are both in Columbia Heights. Grab some of the best pizza in the District at RedRocks, or, if you’re looking for a drink, a couple of the most popular local bars are Meridian Pint and Red Derby. Meridian Hill Park, also known as Malcolm X Park, is located in the southeastern corner of the neighborhood and provides recreation for residents.
Columbia Heights Property Values
Columbia Heights is named after Columbian College, the predecessor of the George Washington University, which was once located in the area. Columbia Heights is anchored by the newly redeveloped and pedestrian-oriented Tivoli Square and DC USA shopping complex. This area includes Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, Marshalls, and Washington Sports Club, to name a few. There is also a massive Giant grocery store in the neighborhood.
