The Palisades is an idyllic neighborhood that consists of a long strip of land running along the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal and Potomac River in the westernmost part of DC. MacArthur Blvd NW and Canal Rd NW provide direct access out to the Maryland suburbs or into Georgetown, the Key Bridge, and downtown DC. The Chain Bridge to Virginia starts in the Palisades and accesses the George Washington Memorial Parkway.
The Palisades is situated within Northwest DC, and consists of a narrow 3-mile stretch running from Foundry Branch Valley Park and Georgetown at its southeastern end all the way up to the DC-Maryland border at its northwestern end. The narrow neighborhood is squeezed in between Canal Road NW and MacArthur Boulevard NW.
