Cleveland Park Property Values
Cleveland Park got its beginnings in the late 19th Century as a “suburb” of DC, and was named after President Grover Cleveland, who bought a farmhouse in the area. The area is now highly regarded for its proximity to downtown DC while still providing a residential vibe. It is also a DC Historic District, which allows tax credits and incentives for commercial property owners to rehabilitate their businesses.
Much of the unique look and feel of Cleveland Park is owed to its high concentration of Victorian style homes, many of which were built during the area’s most substantial development period in the 1940’s. The winding hills of Cleveland Park provide an abundance of architecture reminiscent of classic New England summer retreats. Although most of the real estate here is single-family homes, there are also a number of smaller garden style co-ops, condos, and a few larger buildings along Connecticut Avenue NW. The neighborhood is also home to a number of foreign embassies and private residences of historic significance.
Cleveland Park Transportation & Location
The Cleveland Park Metro station on the Red Line serves the southern end of the neighborhood, and both the Tenleytown-AU and Van Ness-UDC stops on the same line provide access to the northern end. There are several bus lines that come through the area, especially on Wisconsin Ave NW and Connecticut Ave NW. Both of those roads provide direct access out to Montgomery County, Maryland, and to the Capital Beltway, less than 6 miles away. Wisconsin Ave NW also leads into Georgetown and Connecticut Ave NW runs directly into downtown DC. For a more scenic route downtown, try Beach Dr NW through Rock Creek Park. Interstate 66 is just three miles away to the south and leads out to Virginia.
Cleveland Park is located within Northwest DC, and its borders are Wisconsin Ave NW and 38th St NW to the west, Nebraska Av NW and Connecticut Ave NW to the north, Connecticut Ave NW, Soapstone Valley Park, and Rock Creek Park to the east, and Klingle Rd NW and Woodley Rd NW to the south.
