Glover Park Features & Amenities
North of Georgetown and Burleith is the upscale neighborhood of Glover Park. A good deal of the area's commercial activity is found along Wisconsin Ave NW, and there are a handful of great spots, including Town Hall, Sweetgreen, Sprig & Sprout, and Slate Wine Bar & Bistro. We recommend Surfside for their delicious Latin/Mexican fusion dishes and Rocklands Barbeque & Grilling Company for their down-home barbeque. Local residents sometimes refer to Glover Park as “Grover Park”, as the larger buildings tend to be some of the most pet-friendly in the city.
Whitehaven Park at the south end and Glover-Archbold Park on the west end are great spots to get back to nature. A hidden jewel of DC is Glover Park Community Garden, which can be found just west of 42nd St NW in Glover-Archbold Park. Since the garden happens to be on National Park Service land, rangers inspect the 20' x 20' plots twice a month and issue a "weed warning" to any gardener not tending their plot; because of this unique partnership it's one of the most beautiful and well-kept community gardens in the city. Guy Mason Park at the eastern end of the neighborhood provides softball fields, a playground, and dog park.
Glover Park Property Values
The area is named after Charles Carroll Glover, a prominent banker and philanthropist at the turn of the 20th Century in DC. Real estate in this neighborhood is a mix of single-family rowhouses and some larger condos and co-ops. The neighborhood caters to families with quiet tree-lined streets and quaint surroundings, providing a residential feel while being close to an urban environment. There is virtually no through traffic on most streets, which helps keep the crime rate one of the lowest in DC.
Glover Park Transportation & Location
While there is no Metro stop in the neighborhood or nearby, there are bus lines that service the area, especially on Wisconsin Ave NW. Massachusetts Ave NW and Wisconsin Ave NW provide easy access out of the city into Maryland and the Capital Beltway, and Massachusetts Ave NW offers a good route into downtown DC. The Key Bridge, George Washington Memorial Parkway, and northern Virginia are all a short driving distance away.
Glover Park is located in Northwest DC, and its borders are Fulton St NW, Wisconsin Ave NW, and Massachusetts Ave NW to the north, the U.S. Naval Observatory to the east, Whitehaven Park to the south, and 42nd St NW and Glover-Archbold Park to the west.
