Though Chevy Chase is equipped with a downtown area, crowds are never an issue. Residents can feel comfortable moving about the community, knowing that they'll never bump into one another and that, more often than not, they're among other residents who likewise value the neighborhood's offerings. Though shops, restaurants, and bars are minimal, Chevy Chase does enjoy the presence of a library, a community center, two supermarkets, a handful of restaurants including the American City Diner, the historic Avalon Theatre, and Politics & Prose Bookstore.
