Kalorama is the perfect neighborhood for families. Cozy and close to all the amenities of Dupont Circle, Kalorama real estate is some of the costliest (and most gorgeous) in the city. The neighborhood is home to the Obama family (at least until Sasha finishes high school) and many other high-profile members of D.C.’s elite.

While Kalorama itself does not have any Metro stops or restaurants and retail, it is close to both Dupont Circle and Woodley Park restaurants and retail. Close to Kalorama is the Washington Hilton, home of the famed White House Correspondents’ Dinner and community events like the Dog Pool Dip on Nov. 4th, when the hotel closes its pool for the summer and the pets come and take a quick dip.

There’s also Buca di Beppo, an Italian family-style eatery near the Kalorama neighborhood. Whimsically decorated and just casual enough, it’s perfect for visiting family over the holiday season.

Head the opposite direction to the Woodley Park area and you’ll be steps away from the Smithsonian National Zoo’s holiday event “Zoo Lights.” Running from Nov. 24th through Jan. 1st, take the whole family to see the zoo lit up in time for the holiday season.

It is extremely easy to get in and out of other neighborhoods from Kalorama, as not only is it accessible on the Metro’s Red Line, there is also the Circulator’s Woodley Park to McPherson Square route. There’s also Connecticut Ave. and Massachusetts Ave., which are very pedestrian friendly. Finally, Rock Creek Parkway offers a scenic route. If Kalorama residents need to get to Virginia, I-66 is also close by.
