The area features a number of think tanks, museums, and embassies, as well as an eclectic mix of restaurants and bars. Dupont Circle is one DC neighborhood that truly has a little bit of everything that makes this city so special. The area was part of the “Old City” of Washington, DC, and is named after Civil War admiral Samuel Francis Dupont. Prior to 1882, it was known as Pacific Circle.

Interstate 66 starts a few blocks from Dupont Circle and runs out to Virginia.
Dupont Circle is located within Northwest DC, and its borders are Massachusetts Ave NW, Florida Ave NW, and U St NW to the north, 14th St NW to the east, Rhode Island Ave NW and M St NW to the south, and 22nd St NW, P St NW, and 23rd St NW to the west.
