1. Georgetown Glow invites visitors to re-imagine the season of light through outdoor public art. Located in the heart of Georgetown, this is the region's only curated exhibition of outdoor public light and installations.  This event runs from Dec 8-Jan 7, from 5-10pm, so make sure to check it out before it ends!

The Petworth Playground at 8th and Taylor Streets is set for a $2 million renovation, much to the delight of neighborhood residents. Councilmember Todd was able to secure the money in his fiscal year 2018 budget.

A community meeting has been scheduled to talk more about this process on Thursday, December 7th. The event will be at the Raymond Recreation Center located at 3725 10th St. NW. The Department of Parks and Rec. and Department of General Services will be on hand to get the community ready for the process and to gather input from residents. Neighbors are encouraged to come out and share their vision for the playground.

Rock Creek Park has quite a storied history. American Indians were some of the first to use its quarried rock outcroppings to make tools, fished in the creek and hunted in its woods. Later, in the 1600 to 1700s, European Americans began claiming the land and Georgetown was soon chartered at the mouth of Rock Creek. Once tobacco farming drained the soil of its worth, farmers switched to wheat and corn production. The most successful gristmill in the park is Peirce Mill, built along Rock Creek to convert grain to flour.

In 1890, Rock Creek Park was named one of the first federally managed parks. From then until now, many Washingtonians head to the park to enjoy some green space and all of what the park has to offer as far as recreational activities.

Woodley Park is a bustling neighborhood with plenty to do and plenty of prime real estate just begging to be scooped up. Kalorama is the perfect neighborhood for families. Cozy and close to all the amenities of Dupont Circle, Kalorama real estate is some of the costliest (and most gorgeous) in the city. The neighborhood is home to the Obama family (at least until Sasha finishes high school) and many other high-profile members of D.C.’s elite.

While Kalorama itself does not have any Metro stops or restaurants and retail, it is close to both Dupont Circle and Woodley Park restaurants and retail. American University Park is a very suburban neighborhood. It is named after American University, which is actually situated just south of the neighborhood. Dining and shopping options in the immediate neighborhood are scarce, but there is a Wagshal’s Market, locally owned and full of delicious food and produce. There’s also a branch of the popular Tara Thai restaurant and a CVS.  

While the immediate neighborhood is more residential, AU Park is minutes from Tenleytown, which is full of fast-casual restaurants like Chick Fil A, Starbucks, José Andrés’ Beefsteak, Dunkin Donuts and more. AU Park is also conveniently located next to Friendship Heights, which also has plenty of shopping and dining options.
