While the neighborhood hosts all comers, the majority these days are college-educated professionals in their late twenties and early thirties. Unsurprisingly, it is rarer to find households with children in Logan Circle, but the neighborhood's busy streets allow for conveniences and nightlife not found in the District's family-friendlier neighborhoods.

Like neighboring Shaw, Logan Circle is ultimately named for a Union Army Commander and began to take shape and find its identity following the American Civil War. What to Expect

Abundant convenience

With housing prices as high as they are, it should come as no surprise that Logan Circle has literally every convenience a resident could hope for. This pedestrian's paradise manages to maintain a residential feeling, yet comes equipped with a Whole Foods Market, numerous local and national restaurants, several watering holes, and venues for live theater and music, as well as clothing shops, pharmacies, cafes, a hardware store, a bike shop, and a gym. If that weren't enough, walking another few blocks into the neighborhoods of U Street and Dupont Circle will get you access to their eponymous Metro stations, Trader Joe's, Yes! Organic Market, Safeway, Diego's Hair Salon, and too many restaurants and bars to count.

What Not to Expect

Tight-knit community

Though Logan Circle is teeming with friendly people and is predominantly residential, it's not a neighborhood where everyone knows everyone. The Logan Circle Community Association does plan some events to help neighbors socialize, block parties and street fairs are not standard. This difference between Logan Circle and somewhere like Petworth may owe to the neighborhood's thriving commercial district which attracts visitors in droves.


You'll Fall in Love With

Spending your spare time close to home.

It is a dream of many to think of their home as extending beyond four walls and residents of Logan Circle live that dream every day. The convenience of Logan Circle cannot be overemphasized. If you're at home, whatever you need is just a block or two away, and there's no settling for the local version of the thing you really want. Part of the ultra convenience of the neighborhood is variety. Logan Circle is close to nearly of every supermarket option in DC and endless bars and restaurants.
