North of Georgetown is the neighborhood called Glover Park. The area’s main retail and food area is along Wisconsin Ave. NW. Glover Park is named after Charles Carroll Glover, a banker and philanthropist. Real estate is a mix of row houses, condos and co-ops.

Restaurants to try include Sprig & Sprout, a pho and Vietnamese sandwich shop and Slate Wine Bar & Bistro, with a delicious happy hour featuring roasted garlic hummus, chicken bacon tacos and draft beers, house wines and cocktails. Surfside is also a standout, with tacos and other fare inspired by the beach.

Those who are looking to enjoy the outdoors this fall will love Glover-Archbold Park. The park is a great place to hike and there’s actually a community garden within the park called the Glover Park Community Garden. Due to it being on National Park Service land, rangers inspect the garden and issue weed warning for anyone not keeping their plot in tip-top shape. It’s one of the most gorgeously well-kept gardens in the whole city.

Near the neighborhood Whole Foods is Guy Mason Park, perfect for a rousing game of softball, a playground and dog park (Glover Park is very dog-friendly).

The Glover Park Citizens Association is quite active, with monthly meetings and farmer’s markets Saturdays in the Hardy Middle School Parking Lot.

Glover Park even has its own Twitter page with events including the annual Stoddert Fun Fair that just took place on Oct. 21st and news of a Domino’s Pizza coming to the area.

A Trader Joe’s is also on its way to Glover Park, moving into the former Holiday Inn location at 2101 Wisconsin Ave NW. The Trader Joe’s has applied for its liquor license as well.
