Furthermore, the neighborhood is home to some 200 public squares & parks, making it perfect for recreation.

Capitol Hill is regularly described as unpretentious and the description is apt. Though the neighborhood is home to many members of Washington's high society, there's much less of a 'see and be seen' culture. Residents appreciate downtime when they have it and tend to blend together. They can enjoy their beautiful surroundings, friendly neighbors, and the historic Eastern Market which has operated continuously since 1873. Perhaps the deep connection to history and generations of previous residents keeps current ones grounded and 'unpretentious.'

Exciting nightlife or upscale shopping
Though there are a number of places for great eats and drinks along Pennsylvania Ave SE and Barracks Row, they are not abundant and they generally fit into Capitol Hill's slower pace.
