Dr. Granville Moore’s and H Street Country Club are two of the biggest bar destinations in the area. Live music venues have also become a staple in the area. In addition to Atlas, popular spots include the Rock and Roll Hotel, Twelve Restaurant and Lounge, the Argonaut, and HR-57 Center.

H Street Atlas District Property Values

The Atlas District name comes from the revitalized Atlas Performing Art Center, but as the neighborhood continues to experience rapid redevelopment, the H Street name has taken on a life of its own. It was even named the 2013 Great American Main Street by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Buoyed by the development of the first new DC Streetcar line, prices in the area have jumped substantially in the past few years. The neighborhood is one of the hottest local real estate markets as developers are vying to redevelop old row houses, vacant storefronts, and larger commercial tracts. High-end condominiums have also sprung up in the corridor.

H Street Atlas District Transportation & Location

The Union Station Metro stop on the Red Line is located at the southwest corner of the neighborhood and the NoMa-Gallaudet U Metro stop, also on the Red Line, is at the northwest corner of the neighborhood. Several Metrobus lines run through the neighborhood, and there is a free shuttle that runs along H Street NE nightly after 5pm, between the Gallery Place-Chinatown Metro stop on the Red, Yellow, and Green Lines and the Minnesota Avenue stop on the Orange Line. DC Streetcars run along the corridor as well, linking Union Station with the Minnesota Avenue Metro stop. For those wishing to drive, H St NE provides a quick and direct route west to downtown DC and to I-395, which leads out to Virginia. It also becomes Benning Rd NE to the east, which links up with the Anacostia Freeway (DC Route 295).

H Street Atlas District is located in Northeast DC, and its borders are G St NE to the south, the Metro Red Line to the west, Florida Ave NE and Gallaudet University to the north, and 15th St NE to the east.
