Capitol Riverfront Features & Amenities

Several new restaurants have opened in recent years in the Capitol Riverfront area, including Bluejacket brewpub, Kruba Thai and Sushi, Gordon Biersch, Willie’s Brew and Que, Osteria Morini, and Agua 301. A Harris Teeter opened in the neighborhood in 2014. There are four parks in Capitol Riverfront to help residents get away from the city: Yards Park and Diamond Teague Park on the river, Virginia Square Park, and Washington Canal Park, which has a seasonal ice skating rink. Anacostia Riverwalk Trail offers a scenic path for bikers, joggers, and walkers along the river.

Located just a few blocks southeast of the U.S. Capitol Building, the long overlooked Capitol Riverfront is being realized for its potential and proximity to downtown DC. There are several new condo and co-op options in the neighborhood to choose from.

Capitol Riverfront Transportation & Location

There are two Metro stations that serve the neighborhood: the Navy Yard-Ballpark stop on the Green Line is centrally located and the Potomac Avenue stop, on the Orange, Blue, and Silver Lines, is at the east end. There are Metrobus lines that run through the area as well as two DC Circulator bus routes. Two Capital bikeshare stations offer residents another option to get around in the neighborhood. Interstate 695 runs through the neighborhood and leads either out to Virginia via I-395 or to the Anacostia Freeway (DC Route 295). Reagan National Airport is a 10-minute drive away.

Capitol Riverfront is located in Southeast DC, and its borders are South Capitol St SE to the west, I-695, Potomac Ave SE, and Pennsylvania Ave SE to the north, and the Anacostia River to the south.
