Capitol Riverfront | Situated on the Anacostia River and 1 mile from Eastern Market, Capitol Riverfront (aka Navy Yard) has been making quite a name for itself over the past few years. As with so many urban ports that have long served as industrial and business centers, the Capitol Riverfront is in the midst of mindset-shifting revitalization. A mix of residential, commercial, dining, shopping and loads of outdoor activities is the reason why Capitol Riverfront is experiencing the largest development boom in its history. Anchored by Nationals Park, Capitol Riverfront is home to a myriad of eateries such as Cornercopia, Sweetgreen, Bluejacket Brewery, and Takorean. Yards Park is a premier waterfront destination, providing green space and water features…

Georgetown Rowhomes

Thanks to a construction boom following the American Civil War, the dominant housing style in Georgetown is the brick rowhome. Whether you call them rowhomes, row houses, or townhouses; these attached and semi-detached dwellings are icons of class and charm and they do not come cheap. The modest, 1895-built house at 3419 Q St NW where John F Kennedy and Jacqueline Bouvier first met just hit the market for a cool $1,725,000.

As is the case in many of DC’s historic districts, architectural variance becomes a viable motif, provided that the buildings are well preserved. Georgetown…

For generations of American families, owning a home has been a cornerstone of economic stability and wealth creation. During the tax bill revision process, the key question the National Association of Realtors lobbyists pushed lawmakers on was, “Do we want a country of renters or a do we want a country where people own their own home?”

The mortgage interest deduction is still allowed, except the new cap is $750K instead of $1 million. Real estate investors still retain investment deductions. Foreign Investors are Buying in Washington DC

Foreign real estate investors are eyeing the Washington DC real estate market!  In the past year, DC has risen two spots, from number six to number four among U.S. cities for foreign investment. Only New York, Los Angeles, and Seattle came in before our nation’s capital.

South Korean and Chinese institutional investors are fueling much of the interest. The top five property types investors are most interested in listed by members of the Association of Foreign Investors are industrial, multi-family, office, hotel, and retail (in order of importance).

Petworth recently had its holiday window light display along Upshur Street, making for a gorgeous display for area residents.

One of Petworth’s newest restaurants is Himitsu, a self-described Japanese-style eatery with Latin American and Southeast Asian flavors. The restaurant is following a truly modern trend, as they don’t have a phone and rely solely on e-mail for inquiries.

Reformer Pilates, a D.C.-based pilates studio, opened on November 1st in the neighborhood. Their classes at 55 minutes and last seven days per week. The studio is located at 4011 9th St. NW. Classes are not cheap—a single one is $35 while private classes are $95.
