Louis at 14th and U Street
Louis at 14th and U Street, an upcoming mixed-use luxury apartment building that broke ground last year, will offer the increasingly trendy U Street neighborhood one more option for luxury living. The Louis at 14th and U Street is set for completion in December 2013.
Louis at 14th and U Street, billed as the “spot for luxury living,” at 1912 14th Street NW, is just steps from the U Street Metro station. JBG Companies, a Chevy Chase-based company that is developing the property, generated interest at the groundbreaking with a character of Louis the XIV, who rode around on a Capitol Bike Share bicycle.
When complete, the nine-story Louis at 14th and U Street will have 268 luxury apartments whose resident will enjoy access to a rooftop pool and about 42,000 square feet of commercial and retail space on the ground level. The apartments will have a fitness center with a yoga room, a business center and a 24-hour concierge, according to JBG Companies’ website.
The rooftop at Louis at 14th and U Street will include a terrace with grilling stations, fire pit and lounge seating along with the pool. Below-grade parking garage at Louis at 14th and U Street is planned to have 152 spaces. Louis at 14th and U Street was designed by Eric Colbert & Associates with the interior designed by Cecconi Simone.
The U Street area is booming with development near Louis at 14th and U Street, boosted in part by a new Whole Foods that is putting the trendy community’s properties in even higher demand. New residents are drawn to U Street corridor’s hip music scene, which includes the 930 Club, the Black Cat and U Street Music Hall, as well as to the slew of restaurants and bars here.
The Facebook page for Louis at 14th and U Street describes the apartment building as designed for young professionals who seek “an exciting urban environment lifestyle” with first-class amenities. Studios, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments are all planned for Louis 14th and U Street.
