CityCenterDC Brings New Real Estate to the District

The CityCenterDC complex will be on the site of the former Washington Convention Center, which was torn down in 2004.  The 10-acre development near Chinatown is bordered by 11th Street NW to the west, H Street NW to the south, 9th Street NW to the east, and New Youk Avenue NW to the north.  The first phase of CityCenterDC will consist of six new buildings and a public plaza.

CityCenterDC has been in the works since 2003, but plans were delayed after the financial collapse, and construction did not start until 2011. The first six buildings will house 515,000 square feet of office space, 458 apartments, 216 condominiums, 295,000 square feet of retail/restaurants, 1,570 underground parking spaces.  In a later phase, two more buildings will be added -- a hotel and additional retail along New York Avenue.

The CityCenterDC condominiums will be in two separate towers called The Residences at CityCenterDC.  Each condo will feature floor-to-ceiling windows for amazing natural light.  The condos will also display European style in the kitchen, appliances, wardrobes, and bathrooms.  Each CityCenterDC condo will have access to a balcony or Juliet balcony, while some will have a private terrace.  Construction of the CityCenterDC condos is already underway with an expected delivery date of Fall 2013.

The CityCenterDC apartments will also have floor-to-ceiling windows, wood flooring, and European-style cabinetry.  The apartment layouts will include sizable living rooms and open kitchens.  The CityCenterDC apartment complex will also boast a 5,500-square-foot fitness center with yoga studio, internet lounge, rooftop swimming pool, and a club room with billiards table.

A neat feature of the CityCenterDC plaza is the interactive fountains.  The fountains vary based on the number of visitors.  When there are fewer visitors, the fountains expand, and when the area is heavily trafficked, the fountains diminish to cover less ground.  CityCenterDC promises to be a vibrant urban experience with a great mix of building uses in the heart of the District.  Be on the lookout for new real estate options at CityCenterDC.
