North Highlands Features & Properties
Residents of North Highlands enjoy the privacy and seclusion of a neighborhood on the "edge of town" with its location along the Potomac, but have easy access to the conveniences and amenities of Arlington County's growing urban center. The neighborhood was once the site of Fort Bennet, on which grounds Fort Bennet Park now offers space for leisure and exercise. The historic Dawson home, which stands adjacent to Fort Bennet, is now Dawson Terrace Community Center and Park Grounds.
North Highlands is home to some older, sturdy Colonials, but the area is largely comprised of larger tear-downs, many with views of the Potomac; and high rise and garden condominiums.
North Highlands Transportation & Location
North Highlands has no Metro Station, but it is nearest to the Ballston-MU Metro on the Orange and Silver Lines, accessible via N Glebe Rd (VA-120). N Glebe Rd (VA-120) provides access to the District of Columbia; and to I-395 to the south, toward Alexandria.
North Highlands is bounded by George Washington Memorial Pkwy to the north, N Oak St to the east, Lee Hwy to the south, and N Cleveland St to the west.
