American University Park is a very suburban neighborhood. It is named after American University, which is actually situated just south of the neighborhood. Dining and shopping options in the immediate neighborhood are scarce, but there is a Wagshal’s Market, locally owned and full of delicious food and produce. There’s also a branch of the popular Tara Thai restaurant and a CVS.
While the immediate neighborhood is more residential, AU Park is minutes from Tenleytown, which is full of fast-casual restaurants like Chick Fil A, Starbucks, José Andrés’ Beefsteak, Dunkin Donuts and more. AU Park is also conveniently located next to Friendship Heights, which also has plenty of shopping and dining options.
