A Brightwood home sold for a record amount recently. The home was located at 5821 4th Street NW at Oglethorpe, just a few blocks north of Missouri, and was listed for $649,000. It closed at $656,000 on February 15. The three-level Brightwood home that sold for a record amount was a contemporary, detached home built in 1939.
The home has four bedrooms and four full baths, all freshly renovated last year and has hardwood floors throughout. This is a 3,000-square-foot home with a new white gourmet kitchen, luxury bath, breakfast bar and custom closet. Brightwood is a community with very active community association, but this particular property required no HOA fees.
Along with Shepherd Park, Brightwood is one of the most northern communities in Washington D.C. to the east of Rock Creek Park and has a very suburban-y feel with lots of detached single-family homes and garden-style apartment buildings. The Brightwood home that sold for a record amount is no exception. It’s a brick and siding home that sits on a huge yard of more than 4,000-square-foot. It has a shed, attached garage and a finished basement.
Active listings declined from November to January in Brightwood as sales have trended upward. Other properties on the market here include a 2-BR, 2,700-square-foot condo on 14th Street listed for $210,000 and a 4-BR, 1,646-square-foot detached home on Tuckerman Street for $505,000. Further north, a 4-BR, 2,364-square-foot home lists on 14th Street lists for $699,900 and a 3-BR, $815,000 property, also on 14th Street. All these homes are on track to increase in value as they’re in the same community as the Brightwood home that recently sold for a record amount.
