Colonial Village Features & Amenities

Colonial Village is completely residential, as commercial real estate is not allowed. However, Silver Spring, Maryland is a very short walk to the northeast and provides all the amenities of a suburban city, including grocery stores, restaurants, shopping, and theaters. Rock Creek Park and its trails are a big drawing point for Colonial Village residents.

Colonial Village Property Values

Colonial Village is the northernmost neighborhood in the District of Columbia, and is noted for its seamless transition into the northern end of Rock Creek Park. The 1930’s subdivision got its name because the original homes were designed to look like authentic colonial residences from the 17th and 18th Century. Colonial Village real estate still mostly consists of brick and stone colonial homes. According to history, the area was once a part of Virginia that was given to Maryland all the way back in 1629.

Colonial Village Transportation & Location

There is no Metro station within Colonial Village, but Silver Spring Metro Station on the Red Line is located less than two blocks over the Maryland border. There are Montgomery County Ride On buses that provide access to the neighborhood through Silver Spring as well. There is only one Metrobus line that serves the area: the S4, on 16th St NW. That road provides a direct route into downtown DC and also to the Capital Beltway, a little more than two miles away. For a more scenic route into the heart of DC, try Beach Dr NW through Rock Creek Park. Parking is easily obtained in the neighborhood, and many houses even have driveways.

Colonial Village is located in Northwest DC, and its boundaries are 16th St NW to the east, Rock Creek Park to the southwest, and Rock Creek Park, Eastern Ave NW, and Silver Spring, Maryland to the north.
