The common trade-off between living in a condo and living in a detached house or other single-family home is that of space for convenience. The condos in DC’s Chevy Chase neighborhood are no exception and they include 5112 Connecticut, 5309 Connecticut, Chase Plaza Condos, The Jocelyn, The Garfield, The Louie, and Christopher Mews.
All Chevy Chase condos can be found--as you may be able to guess by now--along Connecticut Ave NW. This thoroughfare is the social and commercial hub of Chevy Chase. Residents of these multi-family buildings enjoy not only the convenience and proximity of the retail and dining options that abound on Connecticut Ave NW, such as Safeway and Magruder’s Supermarkets, Bread & Chocolate, American City Diner, The Avalon Theater, and Politics & Prose Bookstore, but the road itself. Thanks to Pierre L’Enfant’s desire for sweeping diagonal avenues in his original plan for the Federal City, Chevy Chase condo dwellers enjoy the use of Connecticut Ave NW, taking them over the Maryland line to the north, or as far as the White House to the south.
The final, and perhaps most enticing, draw of Chevy Chase condos are the conveniences and amenities found within. It makes perfect sense, given the busy lives that so many Washingtonians lead, that many desire the lush surroundings of Chevy Chase that offer them respite from downtown DC bustle, and none of the maintenance and upkeep that come with detached real estate ownership.
The various condos of Chevy Chase feature such amenities as security staff, private laundry facilities, party rooms, and roof decks. It also bears noting that many Chevy Chase condos feature near-panoramic windows, and as the neighborhood is situated about a hundred feet higher than downtown and the National Mall, stunning views are easy to come by.
