Think diamond in the rough! This price gets you into the community while allowing room for enhancements. The basics are there--the kitchen is updated, there's a den addition off the rear, and the basement is freshly waterproofed. The big attic is much too nice to use for storage. It's perfect to turn into a large bedroom with the smaller room below used as a home office, maybe dressing room? (See the floor plan.) Similarly, the basement
From the street it may appear to be a modest cape cod home. However, it's one of those homes that is bigger than it looks. There are four good sized bedrooms--three up, one on the main level--a large, table-space kitchen (plus a separate dining room); and a full (unfinished) basement. Though University Park is almost exclusively residential, there is a Whole Foods Market on Baltimore Ave to the east and Prince George's Plaza to the west which features myriad dining and retail options. The neighborhood features recreation opportunities at University Park Town Park and Wells Run.
University Park Property Values
This exclusively residential neighborhood contains an eclectic housing stock, inlcuding Tudors, Craftsman houses, Colonial Revivals (Georgian & Dutch), Cape Cods and Bungalows. Though the only non-residential buildings are churches and municipal buildings, University Park is situated conveniently between College Park and Hyattsville which have much to offer in terms of recreation, dining, and retail.
University Park History
Not to be confused with a neighboring town of College Park to the northeast, University Park was incorporated in 1935, while College Park was only a neighborhood in what would later become the town of College Park. Named for its proximity to the University of Maryland, University Park was developed on land owned for over a century by the Deakin family, which the University Park Company purchased in 1923. Once the land was platted, covenants were included to restrict house size, which has helped the town to maintain a cohesive aesthetic over the years.
University Park Transportation & Location
University Park is serviced by the Prince George's Plaza Metro Station on the Green and Yellow Lines and can be accessed by several bus lines.
University Park is bounded by Baltimore Ave to the east, East-West Hwy to the south, Adelphi Rd to the west, and the University of Maryland to the north.
