River Terrace Features & Amenities
River Terrace is home to the newly constructed River Terrace Education Campus, a facility built to serve students with profound intellectual disabilities; as well as River Terrace Recreation Center, which includes basketball courts, tennis courts, baseball fields and plenty of green space, and is bisected by Anacostia Riverwalk Trail.
River Terrace Property Information
Named for its proximity to the eastern bank of the Anacostia River, River Terrace was first developed as a neighborhood in 1937. With the exception of a few garden apartments along Anacostia Freeway, the River Terrace Housing Stock consists almost entirely of rowhouses. The earliest of these were fifteen feet wide and built on 100-foot-deep lots.
River Terrace Transportation & Location
River Terrace has no Metro Station, however, the Minnesota Ave Metro Station on the Orange and Silver lines isn't too far from the River Terrace border. The Anacostia Fwy (I-295) runs along the eastern border of River Terrace, enabling residents easy access into Washington city center, and quick access outside the District of Columbia to Maryland.
River Terrace is bounded by Benning Rd NE to the north, Anacostia Fwy to the east, East Capitol St NE to the south, and Anacostia Ave NE to the west.
