Lyon Village Property Information

Lyon Village is now the site of 850 homes and the home of 2,500 residents. While it hosts a decent number of townhouses and condominiums, the neighborhood is composed primarily of detached houses; many of which have stood since the 1920's. Styles include Colonial Revival, Georgian Revival, Craftsman, Tudor Revival, and Spanish Mission revival.

Lyon Village Origins

As a neighborhood, Lyon Village breathed its first in 1923 after four years of careful planning and development. Those that sought to attract new residents and homeowners to Arlington recognized that the saloons, brothels, and gambling houses which were commonplace along the Potomac would need to be done away with. Frank Lyon was a champion among these developers and he used the might and influence of his newspaper, "The Monitor," to clean things up. That done, along with the purchase of a sizable tract of farmland, then used for butter production and prior thereto a holding of George Mason, development could begin in earnest.

Lyon Village Transportation & Location

Lyon Village is easily accessible by the Courthouse and Clarendon Metro Stations on the Orange and Silver Lines. The neighborhood is blessed with very few traffic lights and Lee Hwy provides a quick route to Key Bridge and Roosevelt Bridge.

Lyon Village is bounded by Lee Hwy (Route 29) to the north, N Veitch St to the east, Wilson Blvd to the south, and Kirkwood Rd to the west.
