Fort Lincoln History
Fort Lincoln is a small, blossoming neighborhood tucked in between a park and a beautiful cemetery in Northeast DC. The area is nadmed after a Civil War fort that was constructed as an outer defense for the city of Washington. The fort is located just across the Maryland border in Prince George’s County, and can still be visited today along with the expansive Fort Lincoln Cemetery.
President Lyndon B. Johnson saw the neighborhood as a model of a planned community in the 1960’s, and that growth and expansion is continuing and becoming fully realized in the 21st Century.
