Dominion Hills Property Values

Development of the Dominion Hills subdivision began in the early 1940's during which decade houses were almost exclusively two-story brick Colonials. In the 1950's Colonials were still popular, but most houses were brick ramblers with the odd Cape Cod among them. The vast majority of Dominion Hills dwellings are owner occupied, however there are some apartments including the Cavalier Club Apartments which stand on the site of the Febrey-Lothrop stables.

Dominion Hills Origins

Dominion Hills was a prominent site during the American Civil War as it included Upton's Hill, an important landmark that provided clear views of the surrounding countryside and enabled the transmission of flag signals between the long line of forts and encampments that were established to defend the District. The oldest standing house in Dominion Hills is the Febrey-Lothrop house, built on land purchased by the Febrey family from the Uptons of Upton Hill. Dominion Hills was also once the home of Hollywood siblings Shirley MacLaine and Warren Beatty who grew up in a house on N Liberty St.

Dominion Hills Transportation & Location

Dominion Hills has no Metro station but is within easy biking distance of the Ballston-MU and East Falls Church Metro Stations. The neighborhood is also conveniently outlined by I-66, providing easy access to the District of Columbia.

Dominion Hills is bounded by Custis Memorial Pkwy (I-66) to the north, Four Mile Run to the east, Wilson Blvd to the south, and N McKinley Rd to the west.
