The Field School | Additional Information: Also known as TFS, The Field School DC. The Field School is located at 2301 Foxhall Rd NW, Washington, DC, 20007. In 1972, Elizabeth C. Ely founded The Field School, hosting 44 students in a few rooms over a dry-cleaning shop. Since then, the school has expanded and moved twice, most recently to its new campus in 2002. Though the school's growth has been rapid, it remains what it was originally intended to be: a place where a classic curriculum encompassing organized "fields" of knowledge could be taught in a small, informal environment that stressed dialogue, analytic thinking, and larger lessons of how young people could grow to become generous, responsible, self-knowing adults.
