Brightwood Property Values
Brightwood is one of the northernmost DC neighborhoods, bordering the east side of Rock Creek Park. It is on the cusp of big developments in real estate. Brightwood has the look and feel of a suburban neighborhood plus the convenience of being close to all the amenities a major city has to offer.
The neighborhood was originally called Crystal Springs for the pure water that flowed nearby. The name was changed to Brighton, and then Brightwood so it would not be confused with Brighton, Maryland. Real estate is dominated by detached single-family homes and rowhouses, with a handful of garden-style condos and apartment buildings. The area has a significant Art Deco flair to it. Brightwood also has a very active community association.
Brightwood Transportation & Location
There is no Metro stop directly within the neighborhood, but Takoma Station on the Red Line is just a few blocks from the northeast corner of Brightwood. There are several bus lines that service the area, and 16th St NW, 14th St NW, 13th St NW, and Georgia Ave NW all provide direct routes downtown for drivers. Parking is not an issue in the neighborhood, and the Capital Beltway is a little more than 3 miles to the north.
Brightwood lies entirely within Northwest DC, and its borders are roughly 16th St NW and Rock Creek Park to the west, Dahlia St NW to the north, Georgia Ave NW to the east, and Military Rd NW and Missouri Ave NW to the south.
