News in Crestwood

Crestwood is a gorgeous tree-lined neighborhood of large homes in D.C. It’s quiet and cozy and has quite the suburban feel, despite being in the middle of the city and only a few miles from the White House.

The community recently held their turkey trot over Thanksgiving weekend.

Santa came to Crestwood Private Crestwood residents hosted the big man in red at their home. Santa was there on Sunday December 17th from 5-7 p.m.

Looking into the new year, residents are invited to attend the Carter Barron Stormwater Retrofit Project Public Meeting. The goal of the project is to retrofit an 11-acre site with green infrastructure to restore the natural hydrology and to protect the plant life and animal life. The project also hopes to help with flooding and erosion.

The Crestwood Citizens Association, which has been around since 1941, is quite active with new events like the ones mentioned above. There’s also fun updates like the administrator’s sighting of an albino squirrel in mid-November. Many people have apparently caught sight of the rare phenomenon around the neighborhood.

Thinking about a home in the Crestwood area?

Real Estate Trends: Crestwood

Real estate trends from the Crestwood area, including types of homes and price changes.

Crestwood is an idyllic neighborhood in Northwest D.C. perfect for your next home. Trends in real estate are showing an increase of approximately 17 percent in median home sales over the past year. Three bedroom homes are running approximately $850,000 and four-bedroom price trends are just over $1 million.

Crestwood homes are spending less and less time on the market and getting scooped up by the day. A Washington Post article reported that Crestwood had an 84 percent decrease in days on the market, much like other popular neighborhoods like 16th St. Heights.

Crestwood’s neighborhood feel is urban, with 73 percent of homes owning rather than renting. The median value of homes in the area is $908,961.

Crestwood is a mainly residential neighborhood. It draws families and is active online, with sites like crestwood-dc.org, which chronicles neighborhood happenings. Crestwood has a large amount of architectural styles to its homes, which are spread out along its tree-lined streets. It’s incredibly easy to get around Crestwood too—it’s served by two Metro stations, seven bus lines, three Capital Bikeshares and eight Zipcars.

Families and young couples alike are moving to Crestwood for amenities like the Carter Barron Amphitheatre just to the north of the neighborhood and the William H.G. Fitzgerald Tennis Center as well, where the Legg Mason Tennis Classic is played.

Neighborhood News: Crestwood

Newly renovated single family homes located in the secluded, tree-lined streets in the Crestwood neighborhood of DC.

The Crestwood neighborhood is entirely residential, allowing for plenty of quiet and community among its residents. Seclusion in the city is the sell for this gorgeous neighborhood.

Luxurious homes perfect for big families can be found in Crestwood, like the magnificent home on 1743 Webster St. NW. The interior has been completely renovated and includes seven bedrooms, four full bathrooms and two powder rooms and a large in-law suite with a full kitchen. There’s a rear garden for all the green thumbs out there and a detached two-car garage.

There’s also 1875 Taylor St. NW, a beautiful four bedroom, four bath Colonial oasis. The main level includes all hardwood flooring, a formal living room with a fireplace perfect for those chilly winter nights and an outdoor porch.

Crestwood is unique in that it doesn’t have any retail or commercial development. The Washington Post reported in 2011 a family moved to Crestwood because they wanted something that reminded them of a quiet, residential neighborhood. In fact, the article reported that temperatures in the neighborhood can be five to seven degrees cooler in the sweltering D.C. summers due to a dense tree canopy.

For a quiet oasis in the city close to anything you’ll ever need, Crestwood is the place to buy.
