The Chevy Chase neighborhood has had plenty of news since we last updated you. The Chevy Chase Supermarket at 8531 Connecticut Ave. will close in April 2018 after 60 years of service.

There are plans for another supermarket to go in its place once the area is redeveloped. Bernard Freedman opened the store in 1958.

Barston’s Child’s Play in the neighborhood celebrated Neighborhood Toy Store Day in November. There were special programs like craft making, local entertainers, scavenger hunts, charity drives and more. There were also holiday toy previews, much to the delight of many neighborhood children.

There’s also a complete revamp of the Collection at Chevy Chase. A restaurant called Little Beet Table has signed a lease for its first sit-down restaurant in the area. The full-service restaurant will be a take on the fast-casual vegetable focused eatery. Little Beet is based in New York.

There are plans for possible other fast casual restaurants in the development, as well as “aspirational luxury” fashion tenants. The former tenants, like Bulgari and Louis Vuitton, have left for CityCenterDC downtown. The neighborhood hopes to turn the Collection into more of a plaza and park area.
