Arlington Forest Property Values

Major development in Arlington Forest lasted from 1939 to 1948 and came in three phases. The original homes constructed during the first phase, were cleverly designed by Robert O. Scholtz. While all houses from those days may appear identical at first glance, there were numerous variations on the square, six-bedroom theme, relieving residents of an outright cookie-cutter vibe. Later phases of building included Colonial-style homes, but the majority of the neighborhood's existing homes are originals from the first phase.

Arlington Forest Past & Present

Prior to its development as a residential and commercial center, the land now known as Arlington Forest was a tract of land that typified the feel of serene, rural Virginia. Artifacts have been found within its bounds which suggest that Native Americans inhabited the area as long ago as the 12th century. Later granted to early settlers and then purchased by John Coleville, a British merchant and planter, the land was covered by trees, save for a bit of farmland on what is now the 200 block of N Galveston St.

Fortunately, many new trees have been planted to help revive the woodland since it was cleared to make way for development, reminding residents of the natural beauty that originally drew investors to the area.

Arlington Forest Transportation & Location

Arlington Forest is serviced by the Ballston-MU Metro Station on the Orange and Silver lines. Arlington Blvd (Route 50) runs through the neighborhood and connects to I-66 to the north, providing access to the District of Columbia; and to I-395 to the south, toward Alexandria.

Arlington Forest is bounded by N Carlin Springs Rd to the north, Henderson Rd to the east, and Glencarlyn Park to the west.
