Rock Spring History
Rock Spring got its start at the turn of the 20th century. The Arlington bank of the Potomac, like so many riverfronts of old, had, up to then, housed a rough and tumble crowd. Once enough citizens rallied to do away with the rowdy element, residents of DC began to build summer homes in the spacious, lush areas of Arlington. What we now know as Rock Spring, named for the nearby natural spring, was an obvious choice.

Rock Spring has no Metro Station, but it is nearest to the Ballston-MU Metro on the Orange and Silver lines, which is accessible via N Glebe Rd (VA-120). N Glebe Rd (VA-120) which runs along the eastern side of Rock Spring, providing access to the District of Columbia; and to I-395 to the south, toward Alexandria.
Rock Spring is bounded by N Albemarle St to the north, N Glebe Rd to the east, Little Falls Rd to the south, and N Kensington St to the west.
