Randle Highlands History & Vision

Randle Highlands is a beautiful neighborhood, originally planned in the early twentieth century by Colonel Arthur E. Randle. He is known for developing several District subdivisions east of the Anacostia River after claiming at a London dinner party in 1899 that it was his duty to help make the District the most beautiful city in the world. Though he did not live long enough to realize this dream, he said, 'I intend to make of Randle Highlands what Brooklyn is to New York City.'
