Michigan Park Features & Amenities

The residential Michigan Park neighborhood has a strong sense of community and has one of the most active civic associations in the District. It is home to Providence Hospital and Saint Anselm’s Abbey, a Benedictine monastery. Both North Michigan Park Recreation Center and Fort Circle Parks at the northern end of the area provide recreational options for residents. Flip-It diner and bakery is just about the only retail option in Michigan Park, but nearby Brookland has much more to offer.

Michigan Park is a suburban-like, quaint neighborhood in Northeast DC that flies under the radar for most people. It is named after Michigan Ave NE, which runs along the southeast side of the area. Michigan Park real estate consists of brick colonials nestled on tree-lined streets.

Michigan Park Transportation & Location

There is no Metro station in Michigan Park, but both Fort Totten Station on the Red, Green and Yellow Lines and Brookland-CUA Station on the Red stand just west of the neighborhood. There are Metrobus lines that serve the area as well. Michigan Park is among the DC neighborhoods in which car ownership is most beneficial. Michigan Ave NE provides a route towards downtown DC. Both the Capital Beltway (I-495) and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway (Maryland Route 295) are less than six miles away.

Michigan Park is located in Northeast DC, and its borders are Gallatin St NE and Fort Circle Pars to the north, Eastern Ave NE and Prince George’s County, Maryland, to the east, Michigan Ave NE and Taylor St NE to the south, and the Metro Red Line to the west.
