Foxhall Village Features
Foxhall Village is almost entirely residential, and the majority of homes are beautiful brick Tudors built in the 1920’s. The neighborhood is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and gives off the vibe of being a remote English village, which is exactly what planners had in made when they modeled it after Bath, England. Foxhall Village does not have much in the way of restaurants and shops other than the ever-popular Jetties sandwich and salad shop, but nearby neighborhoods Palisades and Georgetown have a wealth of options. Georgetown University and George Washington University’s Mount Vernon campus border Foxhall Village, and the neighborhood is home to many graduate students. The neighborhood is home to the Embassy of Germany and the Embassy of France is a short walk away in Burleith. In addition to Glover-Archbold Park, residents have the convenience of the Capital Crescent Trail and two playgrounds in the neighborhood: Reservoir and Hardy.
Foxhall Village Information
Foxhall Village, not to be confused with its northern neighbor Foxhall Crescent, is an idyllic and charming neighborhood just west of Georgetown. The tree-lined streets of this neighborhood are tucked in between Georgetown Reservoir and Glover-Archbold Park. It gets its name from Henry Foxall, a friend of Thomas Jefferson’s who owned a home in the area and a cannon factory in what is now Glover-Archbold Park.
Foxhall Village Transportation & Location
There is no Metro station in Foxhall Village, but both the D5 and D6 Metro bus lines on MacArthur Blvd NW and Foxhall Rd NW provide access to Georgetown and downtown DC. MacArthur Blvd NW and Canal Rd NW provide direct access out to the Maryland suburbs or into Georgetown, the Key Bridge (just one mile away), and downtown DC. The Chain Bridge is about two miles away and accesses the George Washington Memorial Parkway. Foxhall Village is located in Northwest DC, and its rough borders are Glover-Archbold Park to the east, Canal Rd NW to the southwest, and W St NW to the north.
