Two-Story Condos in D.C.

Two-story condos are hard to come by in Washington D.C., but the real estate market here does have several properties for homeowners looking for the convenience of cooperative living spread out on two floors.

The majority of condos in Washington D.C. are tight quartered, with the most common being studios or one-bedroom units. In the more suburban-like areas of the District, buyers may be more apt to find the rare two-story condo, although two-story condos can be found throughout all parts of the District.

Not surprisingly, two-story condos are significantly more expensive than their one-floor counterparts. For example one two-bedroom, two-story condo in the Adams Morgan area lists for $675,000. Other condos on one floor in this neighborhood list for about half the price, like a one-bedroom condo at 1860 California St. NW that’s on the market for $324,000.

Two-story living in the District does come at a premium, especially in this increasingly tight housing market. But buyers that can afford a little extra will find that two-story condos in D.C. can provide a feeling of home in the heart of a large metropolitan area.

Of course, buyers with virtually no budgets can easily find condos of any size in the District. One three-bedroom, two story condo, also in Adams Morgan, is listed now for $2.9 million. The 3,000-square-foot penthouse has 1,650 square feet of outdoor space in a wrap-around balcony. It also comes with two garage spots.

While there is no shortage of million dollar luxury two-story condos, two-story condos in a more affordable range are a bit more rare. Still, buyers can certainly still find these properties.
